The 2nd annual #BCTECH Summit brought together over 5,000 business and technology leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, academics and students to exchange new ideas, make new connections, and explore the latest tech innovations fuelling BC’s economy. What better way to highlight BCLC as an innovative company than having a presence at one of Canada’s premier tech conferences?
While attending these types of events, we love getting questions like “Why is BCLC interested in innovation?” or “What is BCLC doing at the #BCTECH Summit?” Questions like these afford us the opportunity to tell our story and articulate our need to innovate, to enhance and improve our processes, services, and offerings both internally and for our customers, to work with new and different vendors, and to both retain existing customers while increasing our appeal to new ones.
We went one-step further than just stacking words together at the #BCTECH Summit by offering people the chance to play an expression of our innovation efforts via our VR Escape prototype created for us by our friends at Archiact. Seeing the overwhelmingly positive reach to our presence at the #BCTECH Summit and the VR Escape prototype was really amazing. In fact, we had numerous people come up to our booth as ask to play the VR Escape game they’ve been hearing about.
B2B meetings were another benefit of our presence at the #BCTECH Summit. We had at least 10 meetings with companies ranging from big data churners to small virtual and augmented reality game developers. We enjoyed diving into conversations around the potential for their products and services, to explore potential collaborative opportunities, and to discuss our upcoming open game challenge.
We met so many great folks and learned about heaps of great companies, student efforts, and technological evolution. BC is really blessed to have so much innovative exploration happening in the region.
All in all, #BCTECH Summit was a really great experience, and we hope to increase our presence next year.
Big shout out to Chris Fairclough and his team for bringing this all together; including the awesome booth setup.
Our presence at the conference gave us the opportunity to not only make new connections, but also allowed us to showcase some of the really cool stuff we are working on. Attendees shared our excitement after hearing about our ambitions for innovation, for new games and experiences to engage both existing and new audiences while support BCLC’s vision to see gambling widely embraced as exceptional entertainment for adults.
